Croatia House was created in 2017. Integralto its development was Dr Damir Kušen (Croatian Ambassador to Australia), Hrvoje Petrušić (Croatian Consul General in Sydney)and Ned Tičić (inaugural Croatia House President).
The principal purpose for which Croatia House is established is for the promotion of Croatian language and culture in Australia. Croatia House does this by supporting Croatian (and those with Croatian Heritage)performers, writers and artists in Australia through cultural events in the visual and performing arts. It is a hub for those artists to exchange ideas, collaborate and present their work locally and abroad.
Croatia House in an Incorporated Association(Registration number INC1701243) and is entered on the National Register of Cultural Organisations (ROCO), which enables Croatia House to offer donors the incentive of tax deductions. It is made up of a Committee of 7 individuals from different professional backgrounds (including diplomacy, theatre, acting, law, and finance) and community organisations.
The Committee draws on the sum of its professional skills and experience, and previous experience the Committee has gained as a team when delivering the annual Croatian Film Festival, art exhibitions and theatre plays amongst other projects.
